Notes and Information

This individual, alongside two other young bulls imported from the Copenhagen Zoo in 1977, were the first walruses in Japan since Protodobenus japonicus of the early Pliocene age.

This group of walruses remained at Copenhagen for a year and a half following capture.

I have no information on what became of this animal; I am only aware of him surviving into November of 1997 for certain, with possible confirmation of him still alive in April of 1998. By 2003 he was no longer present at Izu-Mito, due to either transfer or death.
