An article published in February 2007 stated that Maluda and Malusha were three years old, and had lived at Penglai for over two years. This is the only information I have on their approximate capture and transfer dates. As Penglai opened in 2004, I make the assumption here that this is when their intial group of four walruses, including this animal, were imported.
In 2006 Maluda was the first walrus to undergo gastrointestinal surgery in mainland China.
