This walrus was purchased in 1939 and housed in a temporary enclosure on the shore of Palosaari, but died over winter that same year; ice damaged the fencing of its habitat, allowing the animal to escape. It was later found dead in the vicinity of the escape site. One source claims that it had drowned, and was found trapped under the ice over 300 feet away from its enclosure.
The storm that allowed this walrus to escape took place "at the very end of December", with Turso escaping "the next day".
A second individual, purchased alongside this animal, died in Norway en route to the zoo.
