Himawari went into labor with this calf at 5:35 am, June 29th, 2021 -- during the birthing process she entered the pool of her exhibit and ultimately delivered the calf underwater, which did not survive.
Had the calf lived it would have been under the ownership of Minamichita Beach Land, where it was conceived, and would have been transferred there at two years of age, as per the breeding loan agreement between the two facilities.
