Mame contracted severe pulpitis and did not survive the tusk removal surgery.
While I have not yet found direct information regarding Mame's age at death, nor her date of capture, I do know that in 2008 (the earliest reference to her I have found) she was the youngest walrus living at Sea Paradise. It's highly likely that she was imported in 2003 alongside Ako, who was transferred to Hakkeijima in December of that year with an unknown walrus. This walrus may have been Mame, or a separate individual who did not survive, with Mame being imported at a later date.
