While I have no exact information on when this walrus arrived in Istanbul, the facility's website claims that all of their animals arrived a month before its opening, which was on December 1st, 2008.
Information regarding Sara's age has been highly inconsistent. Some sources from 2014 give her age as six years old (this isn't possible, given her size and level of training in 2008), while one park guest in December 2011 said she was eight years old, and an additional source from July 2011 states that she is 6 years old -- given those last two I can assume that Sara was likely born in 2003 - 2004, and captured in 2004 - 2005.
As far as I can tell, Sara was trained and performed in Russia prior to her transfer to Istanbul, but I have yet to find information on her transfer history prior to 2008.
