This walrus was collected from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska as a pup -- five others were taken at various points throughout August from the same location, with three male and female pairs being transferred to the Point Defiance Zoo, New York Aquarium, and SeaWorld San Diego.
The Point Defiance Zoo estimated ET to have been born in June 1982; this information is inconsistent with the 2004 studbook's listed capture date and subsequent transfer to a holding facility on May 15th, 1982. Another inconsistency is Point Defiance reporting ET arriving to their facility on August 17th, whereas the studbook lists him as arriving on August 1st. In both cases, I consider the facility's published information to be accurate.
