This walrus was brought to Hagenbeck in 1966 and first listed in the park's inventory in 1967.
There is a possibility that this animal may have been the same individual as a walrus first listed in the 1968 census as an Atlantic walrus, and/or as a walrus first listed in the 1970 census whose subspecies was not listed. It is not improbable to consider that all three animals may have been the same individual, with his subspecies recategorized over the years -- indeed, such inaccuracies have been seen before from this publication when Antje, a Pacific walrus, was initially listed without subspecies for a few years, and then was listed as an Atlantic walrus.
