This walrus was collected from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska as a pup -- five others were taken at various points throughout August from the same location, with three male and female pairs being transferred to the Point Defiance Zoo, New York Aquarium, and SeaWorld San Diego.
Rosie's transfer to SeaWorld San Diego was for medical care towards an ongoing intestinal issue and weight loss.
At least one source states that Rosie was transferred to Point Defiance a week after ET arrived on August 17th, 1982, although the 2004 walrus studbook states August 1st as the date for this transfer.
