Notes and Information

The images found here have all been gathered either from this facility's official resources or news articles.

The walruses from this import were born in 1995; I cannot be certain as to whether they were collected that year or the following year, although for one walrus the 2004 studbook lists a collection date of July 15th, 1995, as well as collection dates in 1995 for two others (including this individual). I therefore cautiously make the assumption that this information is accurate, and that the entire herd of five were all collected in 1995.

This group of walruses arrived at the Parken Zoo "just over a week" prior to May 11th.

Two of the walruses from this herd (Rossita and Rosseau) were purchased and owned by the Parken Zoo -- however, this individual, alongside Sam and Joan, were intended to be transferred to Tierpark Hagenbeck. For reasons unknown to me, Hagenbeck did not receive the walruses, and they instead arrived at the Brookfield Zoo in 1997.
