Notes and Information

It's highly likely that this walrus was originally called Georgie (or Georgi) Girl and renamed Gwen at some point following 1988; presuming this places Georgie Girl's death in 1993 or 1994 as this is when Gwen passed.

The 2018 studbook lists Gwen as having been transferred to Marineland in November of 1981, which I have been able to verify, although another source erroneously states that she was transferred to the park in 1983.

Most sources suggest that Gwen was transferred directly to SeaWorld Orlando from Marineland, although the 2018 studbook states a 1987 transfer to SeaWorld San Diego, which follows published information stating that Marineland's entire herd of walruses were transferred to the park.

Gwen was originally meant to be housed at Marineland only on a temporary basis while the Anchorage Zoo constructed an exhibit for her.
